Minister Garrett has committed to implementing the appropriate parts of the Hawke review of the EPBC Act as a priority when Parliament resumes. Refer to Media releases in the documents section here. GFAV will continue to work with VRFish to ensure that this happens and to put plans in place for the future management of Mako sharks. |

At the recent GFAA conference we had a presentation from NSW Fisheries. As part of his presentation, reference was made to the incorrect use of tags in various species of fish & the lack of details provided on the tag card. Billfish tags are for Bill Fish Shark Tags are for Sharks Tuna Tags are for other game Fish. Please also note that all details on the card should be completed, that includes the GPS location where the fish was tagged. Port Phillip Bay, Kilcunda & Wilsons' Promontory are not acceptable locations given that most of us have a GPS on our boats these days. |
