Fishing Club

The Latrobe Valley Game Fishing Club Inc. was formed in 1982 by a small group of devotees who enjoyed their fishing, but found it very expensive to weigh a fish as an individual, and also discovered if they belonged to a club the then radio license was cheaper! After meeting with the Victorian Game Fishing Club and the South Gippsland Game Fishing Club it was realised there was a need for a club based in Latrobe Valley.

Why should you join a game fishing Club?

Interested in joining an GFAV affiliated fishing Club as a member?

Simply head to the website of a Club listed above or contact them using the details provided. We strongly recommend researching on whether a Club is the right fit for you as an angler. Be sure to take into consideration these key aspects (see below) when considering joining a GFAV affiliated fishing club.

Location

Sometimes joining a Club nearest you can be benefical, enabling you to attend Club meetings, events and talks run by the Club. Yet, in the online world, it can also mean you don't need to be physically in the room and can be a contributor from afar.

Size

Naturally people gravitate towards the big sporting Clubs. However, we all know the saying, it can be hard to be small fish in a big pond and vice versa. Always consider your personality and comfort level in different sized groups.

Experience

How good a game fisher are you? Whether you're just starting out, or looking to go up a level, different Clubs are better suited to the novice or professional. Advise them your level and they'll be honest on how they can help you out.

Cost

Although an game fishing affiliation membership with GFAV is a consistent $35, Club memberships costs are not. Every angling Club's membership offers different inclusions and benefits, and price their memberships accordingly. Some Club memberships will include GFAV affiliation, while others will require an additional payment. Be sure to ask how they are structured when considering a Club to join.
